Carolina Chemonstrations®: Like a Salt to a Flame

Generate excitement in your classroom and strengthen students' understanding of atomic structure and emission spectroscopy. Students observe the flames of 6 metal salts in this colorful, teacher-led demonstration and relate the flame test colors to concepts of electron excitation and quantum theory. This demo requires approximately 15 min and materials are sufficient for at least 10 demonstrations.
