Carolina Chemonstrations®: Under Pressure Kit

Bring a dynamic example of Le Châtelier's principle to your classroom with this teacher-led, student-engaged demonstration kit. Students observe a shift in the solubility of carbon dioxide in seltzer water in action as pressure is applied to the system. A pH indicator gives visual clues to the equilibrium change. This demonstration requires approximately 10 min, and materials are sufficient for 5 demonstrations.
