Simple Machines: Block and Tackle Model

A block and tackle is a system of pulleys with a rope or chain used to lift or pull heavy loads. Help students understand the advantages of pulleys in blocks using this model from Eisco®. A teacher's manual containing student experiment worksheets is included. Masses of known weight (items #751448 and/or #751437), a ruler (items #702616 and/or #702611), a hammer (item #646241), and 5.0-N and 10-N spring scales/dynamometers (items #751957 and #751958) are needed to complete the experiments but are not included.
Although not explicitly outlined in the teacher's manual, Carolina recommends using extra string and providing students with background information on block and tackle devices.
