Decomposition of Calcium Carbonate Kit

Addresses AP® Chemistry Big Idea 4 and Learning Objective 4.1. Investigate how changing macro factors such as surface area, concentration, and temperature affect the reaction rate between solid calcium carbonate and hydrochloric acid in terms of carbon dioxide production. Students plot volume of carbon dioxide produced vs. time, to determine which set of conditions produces the fastest reaction. Materials sufficient for 30 students working in pairs.
